Taiwan and Thailand are enhancing their collaboration in the realm of smart agriculture, with a particular emphasis on artificial intelligence and sustainable farming practices. A Taiwanese delegation, comprising experts from government, industry, academia, and research sectors, recently traveled to key locations in Thailand, including Bangkok, Chiang Rai, and Chiang Mai, to engage in discussions with Thai officials and research institutions about the integration of AI in agricultural practices.
The discussions between the two nations focused on various aspects of smart-farming technologies, the adoption of low-carbon agriculture, fostering public-private partnerships, and leveraging technology to modernize agricultural production. As part of their visit, the Taiwanese delegation explored farms and organizations employing smart-farming methodologies, such as organic tea production and environmentally conscious banana cultivation.
At Maejo University, conversations centered on agricultural engineering, technology adaptation, and the development of skilled professionals to support the sector. This engagement also served to identify the specific needs of Thailand in terms of smart-farming equipment, technologies, and operational support.
Building on existing agricultural cooperation programs, Taiwan aims to promote joint research initiatives, talent exchanges, field testing, and the establishment of business partnerships with Thailand in the field of smart agriculture.
