The Philippines has announced an extension of its visa-free entry program for travelers from Taiwan, allowing them to visit the country without a visa for up to 14 days until June 30 of the following year. This continuation of policy aims to boost tourism and enhance cultural and social exchanges between the two nations. While this privilege facilitates short-term stays, those intending to remain beyond the 14-day period will still be required to secure a visa in advance.
According to officials, the decision aligns with the Philippine government’s commitment to uphold reciprocal visa arrangements, as Taiwan similarly grants visa-free access to Philippine passport holders. This mutual understanding underscores the intention to encourage bilateral tourism and strengthen ties between the two countries.
Efforts to attract Taiwanese tourists are further supported by initiatives to increase flight connectivity and promote lesser-known destinations across the Philippines. By showcasing a diverse range of attractions beyond the usual hotspots like Palawan, the country hopes to offer Taiwanese visitors a richer travel experience.
Data from the tourism sector indicates that Taiwan remains a significant source of international tourists for the Philippines. In the first five months of this year alone, approximately 94,000 Taiwanese travelers visited the country, marking an increase from the same timeframe last year. This uptick highlights the growing interest among Taiwanese tourists in exploring the Philippines.
